KaleidoVision - Introduction

KaleidoVision is an interactive media player and an "experience application" for iPad, iPhone and iPod. Touch screen technologies allow users to add and interact with psychedelic video filters and effects.

I developed the intellectual property, found a financier, patented the technologies, designed the application UI. I also established and designed the brand's visual style, the logo and the support website, which is a low-cost, temporary WordPress blog designed to support the application in it's infancy. I also established and maintain KaleidoVision's social media presence on Facebook, Twitter a Tumblr. I presently Creative Direct everything that happens on the project.

KaleidoVision - iTunes Store

I write and design everything pertaining to KaleidoVision, including our presence in the iTunes Store. The interesting thing about the iTunes Store is that you can edit most everything instantaneously. If you don't think your images are working hard enough, you can change them. If your copy needs work, you can freshen it up. It's rather organic in that sense, and an amazing way to test a particular brand expression, offering developers a chance to really polish their image and greatly improving their chances for success.

KaleidoVision - Web Design

Kaleidovisionhomepagescreencap
This WordPress site for KaleidoVision was created as a temporary webspace for the brand.

Here's the link to the actual website: http://kaleidovision.tv

Rather than spend $10-20,000 on a full-featured webspace for the start-up brand, we spent less than $2000 on a blog that allows us to establish, polish and finesse the brand.

Aside from the wordpress specialist I hired to fulfill this design, I am solely responsible for everything regarding this brand concept, from all the writing and design work to all of the video editing and web programming thus far.

KaleidoVision - In-App "Try me Now" Video

This short video is included with KaleidoVision App. It's labeled TRY ME NOW so that new users will open it right away after downloading the App. I chose the creative commons clip by Mike Winkelmann because the rotating parascope cameras made the clip feel like it was made for KaleidoVision. In the exact center the clip there is a flash of the app's icon, strategically placed there so that the thumbnail version of the video clip wouold show the app icon.

This clip is tagged with my "top 10 favs" as a representation of the entire concept and design. Use the small gray "KaleidoVision" tag below to see everything related.

Bruizr (formerly bearbook) - Introduction

Bruizr is an 18+ social network for gay men who identify with the largest gay subculture ever - known as "the bear community." After working on several of the largest brand names in the world, and trying my hand at developing brands for several different demographics, I thought it was time to develop one for my own demographic. Yes, I identify as a "bear."

Now I own and operate a bear website known as Bruizr.com. I launched the site as Bearbook in 2010 and it quickly came under fire from Facebook for trademark infringement. 8 months later, and more legal fees than I care to calculate, I changed the name to Bruizr.com and Facebook stopped their supposed proceedings.

I wrote and designed everything you'll see here for Bruizr (unless alternately credited).

Bruizr (formerly bearbook) - Branding

As stated in the introduction, Bruizr had a name change. The logo on the front page of the website has been going through a progressive change where the (formerly bearbook) element is becoming more faint over time, as shown here. The bear mascot is named Bruizer Bear (with an "e"). Bruizer Bear is an entity on Facebook as well.

This branding is tagged with my "top 10 favs" as a representation of the entire concept and design. Use the small gray "Bruizr" tag below to see everything related.

Bruizr (formerly bearbook) - Advertising

One of the things I like about Bruizr's branding is the organic tagline, which changes according to the particular communication. In these pieces, the playful headlines are paid off with equally playful tagline changes.

These messages were designed for other social media, like Facebook and Google+, for viral sharing effects. In cases where the creative needs some explanation, there is always a reader willing to explain to other viewers when they post comments with questions.

(The first 3 of these adverts headlines were written by creative genius and friend of Bruizr, Bill Pusztai.)

Mantra - Introduction

Mantra is an independent feature film that I art directed in the Fall of 2008. Since it's completion it has garnished acclaim for being in a league of it's own within the horror genre. The Richmond Times said Mantra has created "a new genre of art-house horror." The Hook called it "an abduction... brilliant... as artful a horror film as I've seen."

Aside from art directing the film, I also designed everything you'll see here: the title graphic; the web site; and the DVD cover.
